Synopsis

At the dawn of his chess career, no one doubted that Carlos Torre was a solid candidate to be the future World Chess Champion. However, a barrier intervened: suddenly, tragically, his nervous system collapsed in a bar in New York when, possessed by a sudden impulse, he took a bus, got undressed, and ran to the zoo to visit the monkeys.

Torre returned to his senses after several days, when he was on a ship that was taking him back to Yucatán. He would no longer play chess professionally for the rest of his life. He was 21 years old.
