During her first childbirth, Zaevo came close to death, lost her baby, and her husband disappeared. Now, at 16, she lives with a wound that keeps her isolated from society. The arrival of a team of Spanish and Latin American doctors opens up the possibility of a cure. With an emotional gaze and unusual access to the heart of a modest operating room in southern Madagascar, this story shows how, even with limited resources, it is possible to transform the fate of more than two and a half million women who are rejected by their communities.
