The weaver's songs
Dir. Ismael Vásquez Bernabé
Hilando sones | 2023 | Mexico | 77 min.
Synopsis
In San Pedro Amuzgos, the ‘town of weavers,’ where the director grew up, childhood unfolds to the rhythm of the loom. As Zoila weaves, she listens to her son’s first existential questions. Through the threads of that conversation, three stories become intertwined: Zoila’s own, that of Donato, the town’s most renowned violinist, and that of Lorenzo, his heir. These are stories of sones and dances, of fathers and sons, and of the invisible ties that bind them.
