Synopsis

Based on Patricia Highsmith’s personal writings, as well as testimonies from her family and some of her lovers, Loving Highsmith reveals little-known facets of the life and work of the celebrated suspense novelist. Over the course of her life, she published more than twenty-two works, many of which were adapted for the screen. Among the best known are Strangers on a Train, The Talented Mr. Ripley, and Carol. The latter, partially autobiographical, was the first lesbian novel with a happy ending published in the United States.
