Hollywoodgate
Dir. Ibrahim Nash’at
Hollywoodgate | 2023 | Germany-United States | 91 min.
Synopsis
Unprecedented and audacious, the film is the fascinating result of the year the director spent with the Taliban, as they entered a U.S. base stocked with weapons left behind after the American withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021. Building toward a chilling conclusion, Nash’at captures Taliban leaders as they evolve from a fundamentalist militia into a modern military regime, deploying Hollywood-style propaganda in pursuit of their aims.
