Everardo González

Director

Mexican documentary film director whose work is considered one of the strongest in Latin America. His filmography includes La Canción del Pulque (2003), Los Ladrones Viejos (2007), El Cielo Abierto (2011), Cuates de Australia (2011) and El Paso (2015), films screened and awarded at various festivals such as Berlin, IDFA , Toulouse, Locarno, Montreal, BAFICI, Sarajevo, Guadalajara, Valladolid and Morelia. His most recent film La Libertad del Diablo (2017) was recognized with the Amnesty International Award at the Berlinale. In 2018 he directed A 3 Minute Hug, the original Netflix documentary in Latin America. He collaborated with the New York Times Opdocs platform with Children from the Narcozone in 2019 nominated for a News Award and Doc Emmy in the Featured New Approaches category. He is a member of the Academies of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Mexico and the United States.

Roberto Garza

He is a founding partner of the ARTEGIOS film production and distribution company, specialized in documentary films. He is the producer of several fiction feature films. Within the documentary genre, his productions “LOS LADRONES VIEJOS” (Everardo González, 2007), winner of the Ariel award and at the Guadalajara Film Festival (2007) for best documentary; “LOS NIÑOS DE MORELIA” (Juan Pablo Villaseñor, 2004), recipient of the audience award for best film at the Morelia International Film Festival (2004); “LA LIBERTAD DEL DIABLO” (Everardo González, 2017), which won the Amnesty International award at the Berlin Film Festival. In 2020 his latest production, “YERMO” (Everardo González), was presented at the online film festival, Ambulante en Casa.

Arturo Malacara

He studied cinematography at the University of the New World, where he specialized in production and directing. In 2015 he worked at Animal de Luz Films, producing commercials and TV spots for different clients and it was where he developed and produced the series “Ways To School” for TV France. As an online producer, he produced the documentary “Libertad del Diablo” by Everardo González, a film that had an important time at festivals and was awarded with various honors around the world. In 2018 he produced the documentary short film “A 3 Minute Hug” for Non-Fiction and Netflix which explores the realization of an event, where people from both sides of the Rio Grande (Mexico-US border) who have been separated from their loved ones for years have a few minutes to meet and hug.

He is currently an associate of Everardo González and Roberto Garza at Artegios, where he is in charge of developing and producing new documentary projects.
